Howdy ! It’s Roseanne and for this new article, I want to talk about « As Good as Dead », the final to « A Good Girl’s Guide to Murder » by Holly Jackson. I hope you’ll like this article ! Enjoy !
As a devoted fan of Holly Jackson’s gripping mystery series, I eagerly delved into the final installment, “As Good as Dead,” prepared for a darker, creepier journey than ever before. True to expectations, Jackson delivers a chilling conclusion that left me simultaneously enthralled and unsettled, a fitting end to a series that has kept me on the edge of my seat from start to finish.
In “As Good as Dead,” we find protagonist Pip on the cusp of heading off to college, haunted by the aftermath of her last investigation. As the host of a viral true-crime podcast, Pip has grown accustomed to online death threats, but when she becomes the target of a relentless stalker who seems to be following her in real life, she realizes that the danger is all too real.
What follows is a harrowing game of cat and mouse as Pip races against time to uncover the identity of her stalker and unravel the sinister connections between them and a local serial killer. With the police refusing to act, Pip is left with no choice but to take matters into her own hands, knowing that failure could mean becoming the next victim.
From the outset, “As Good as Dead” sets a tone that is darker and more ominous than its predecessors. Jackson expertly ratchets up the tension with each chapter, keeping readers on edge as they follow Pip’s desperate quest for answers. The sense of dread and unease is palpable, lending an added layer of depth to an already suspenseful narrative.
While “As Good as Dead” may not be for the faint of heart, its darker tone and creepier atmosphere only serve to heighten the impact of its conclusion. Jackson’s masterful storytelling is on full display here, with twists and turns that will leave readers reeling until the very last page.
For me, “As Good as Dead” is the standout of the series, a perfect blend of thrills, chills, and heart-pounding suspense. While it may not be to everyone’s taste, for those who enjoy a mystery with a darker edge, it’s an absolute must-read. Of course, it’s a 5 out of 5. If you’re ready to brave the shadows and confront the darkness, “As Good as Dead” is waiting to take you on a journey you won’t soon forget.
